Macropathology

In the macropathology lab, surgical resectates and tissue samples removed for diagnostic purposes (biopsies) of more than 40,000 patients per year are prepared for diagnosis using an optical microscope.

Labor Makropathologie

After the prepared specimens are documented and described, the relevant parts of the specimens are removed (cut out) and transferred into small plastic cases. Over 170,000 such cases are handed over to the histology lab for further processing every year.

The macropathology description dictated at the same time is combined with the optical microscope description by the pathologists for a final diagnosis, making it an essential component of every pathology report.
