The Diagnostic and Research Institute for Pathology is also a consultation center (“second opinion”) for various specialist areas. In this function, reference pathological diagnoses are created for patients as well as pathology institutes and laboratories.

The senders receive a proper and timely assessment of histological and cytological examination material. This assessment is based on the latest scientific findings.

Note pursuant to Section 2f (4) FOG on biological data and sample collection

The establishment and maintenance of a biological data and sample collection is permitted under § 2f (4) of the Austrian Research Organization Act (FOG). In this context, no separate informed consent from the individuals concerned is required.

However, pursuant to § 2d (1) no. 5 lit. a FOG, it is mandatory to make appropriate information publicly accessible. This notice serves to fulfil this legal requirement and provides information about the legal basis for data collection and usage in the context of the biological data and sample collection.

By submitting your cases, you consent to the collection and potential reuse of your samples for diagnostic and scientific purposes. This is conducted in full accordance with the ethical principles of the 1964 Declaration of Helsinki and its subsequent amendments.
