Diagnostik- & Forschungs- (D&F) Institut für Pathologie

Bone marrow biopsies, lymph nodes, the spleen and other infiltrated tissue are assessed using the most up-to-date hematopathological diagnostics, i.e. with exact immunohistochemical and molecular pathology differentiation between leukemias and lymphomas as well as benign disease of the hematological and lymphatic systems. Furthermore, specimens from different body regions can be investigated for their cytomorphology and immunocytes.

Hämato-/Osteopathologie

For special issues, bone marrow biopsies or bone specimens can be processed using plastic embedding, which enables an optimal assessment of the bone. Only with this method can mineralization disorders be detected and diagnosed. More than 200 immunohistochemical antibody profiles are routinely made to diagnose hematological diseases, processing native, fixed and also gently decalcified material.

As a reference lab, hematopathology consultation reports are created daily for out of town pathology institutes.

In the interests of patients with hematological diseases, the exact WHO-compliant diagnostics applied here are essential since optimal therapy strategies for those who are affected are based on them. Close interdisciplinary cooperation with the treating clinic is a matter of course, and joint interdisciplinary case reviews are standard.
