Diagnostik- & Forschungs- (D&F) Institut für Pathologie

Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the next Postgraduate Course Lung & Pleural Diseases, which will take place from July 2nd  to July 8th 2026 in Graz, Austria. Location is: Hotel Weitzer, Grieskai 12-14, Graz

This two part-course is designed as live event and will run for six days:

Part I: Tumor Pathology, starting July 2, 2026 will cover not only common lung tumors, but also rare epithelial and mesenchymal tumors, preneoplastic lesions, and pleura tumors including mesothelioma; molecular pathology, immunohistochemistry, and aspects of immune-oncology will be discussed too (3 days until July 4th)

Part II: Non-tumor Pathology, starting July 6th, 2026 will cover fibrosing pneumonias, smoking related lung diseases, metabolic diseases, pneumoconiosis, vascular diseases, infections and more; pediatric lung diseases will be included (3 days until July 8th)

This course will be open for registration from November 1st, 2025

The number of participants is limited (first-come first served-basis).

We will be very happy to welcome you as well as your interested colleagues at the course. Every participant is encouraged to bring difficult cases for onsite discussion

Here are some steps during registration:

  1. Register for participation using the homepage; there will not be a response from our side as we collect registered participants. Once the minimal number of participants have registered, we will send an invoice
  2. You will get an invoice for payment; price for full course will be € 1150.00, for each part of the course payment will be € 680.00. As soon as you have paid the registration fee, you have a confirmed seat.
  3. After payment you will receive the login information to access the digital case box of the course – you will find 3 folders, No1 is about tumors, No2+3 is about non-tumor pathology (Overall there are more than 700 cases selected); this mail is also your confirmation for the course; as often participants cannot look up all the cases, we usually will keep the digital slide box open after the course.
  4. Hotel rooms at the site of the course will be available – Hotel Weitzer, Grieskai 12-14, Graz – a booking link will be provided upon request
  5. You can state your interest to take part in an excursion into southern Styria  - this is a whole day tour (on Sunday, after part 1 and before part2); we need a minimum of 20 participants to keep up with the expenses. Once the number of participants is reached, you will get an information that the excursion will take place. Payment for the excursion (€ 200) will be collected directly at the bus. A statement such as “I do not know” does not help me, as I have to book a bus and make reservation in an old mill, a fortress, and a restaurant for evening dinner. Every expense is included in the fee. If not enough participants register, the excursion will not take place.

With kind regards,

Helmut Popper, MD, Course Director, Co-Directors: Andre L. Moreira, MD, PhD (NYU Grossman School Medicine), Ulrike Gruber-Moesenbacher MD (Pathology Feldkirch)
